Good referees are essential to the success of our soccer program. The most important thing that referees do is to ensure that CMYSA games are SAFE, FAIR, and FUN.

CMYSA provides FREE training!

Eligibility: 13 years old or older

Assistant Referee (sideline) Training

• Date and Time Coming Soon
• Wear shoes you can run in since this is on field training.
  
• Preregistration required (link is below)

Training required if you are a:

• New referee
  
• Returning Rec Ref with less than 3 years experience
  
• Referee with 3+ years experience, encouraged to attend, but not required
  
• FIFA trained Travel Referees are invited to attend, but not required (on field training will be very helpful for any new ref)

Rec Game Center Referees will be experienced Rec Referees or Certified Travel Referees.

Trainer Lamont (Monty) Lommel

I was born in St. Cloud in 1973. I was very active in my youth playing little league baseball and also soccer in the early days of CMYSA. I was always a big fan of soccer through the years and was reconnected when my children starting playing soccer in their youth. I have 4 children who all played soccer for CMYSA. I coached for CMYSA Recreational and Travel Teams for 12 years and then as an assistant with the Apollo High School Boys Soccer Team for 4 years. I was ready for my next challenge once my 3rd child graduated high school. I have officiated now for 5 years within the USSF youth and adult competitive leagues, playoffs and State Tournament, MSHSL Varsity, Section Playoffs and State Tournament. I have also done some NCAA D3 reserve team games. I love the challenge, the fitness, the being part of a team and being able to stay close to the game I love by filling a valuable need as an official. I am very passionate about being an ambassador to the game and excited to help new and/or inexperienced officials expand their knowledge of the game and their confidence in their abilities.
