If you are considering becoming a referee for travel soccer, winter/spring is the time to begin your training to be prepared for the upcoming summer season. 

U.S. Soccer mandates all certified referees must be at least 13 years old to create a U.S. Soccer account. 

Once trained, you can work league games and tournaments all around Minnesota. YOU set where and when you work! 

Good referees are essential to the success of our soccer program. The most important thing that referees do is ensure that travel games are fun, safe, and fair.

Requirements for US Soccer Grassroots Referee License Certification:

1. Register for US SOCCER/MNSRC ENTRY LEVEL REFEREE COURSE
2. Pay $60 course fee and $20 US Soccer Registration Fees ($80 total) + background check fee if 18+ years ($30)
3. Complete the 4+ hours of Online Training (US Soccer Grassroots course and 3 video modules.)
4. Register and attend in person 5 hour "Classroom Clinic." Local clinic date and location will be set soon it is usually in April. Pre-registration is required. Bring a WiFi enabled device. CMYSA will provide flags for this training.
5. Pass the First Time Grassroots Referee Quiz
6. Referees 18 years or older- complete the $30 Referee background check through US Soccer and free 90 minute online Safe Sports Training.
7. All referees must complete the free Concussion Training every 3 years.
8. Once you have completed these steps, contact M & D Sports at mdsports@comcast.net to complete required paperwork to work for CMYSA.  Note: Game Officials is being replaced by Assignr. 
9. Create a Referee Account with US Soccer Connect/Affinity (required for Center Ref to access digital player cards and game scoring). Minors need to call to create a referee account, call 855-703-2578. 
10. You'll start to receive work assignments through Assignr which you must accept or decline.
11. Purchase a referee uniform kit (start with a basic yellow jersey). Available on Amazon or Planet Soccer
